Crime-comedy film makes its Hollywood debut ahead of a November 2026 streaming launch

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, September 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Los Angeles-based Sound Supervisor and Re-Recording Mixer Peter Zongting Li has wrapped up his work on the feature film ‘The Pool Boy,’ which premiered on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. A packed audience responded with warm applause at the screening, and many attendees specifically praised the film’s immersive sound as a standout element of the evening.

Running two hours and seventeen minutes, ‘The Pool Boy’ mixes crime, comedy, romance, and conspiracy. The story centers on a hardworking young Black man pursuing his dreams in Los Angeles who — because he is a bit too handsome and a bit too much of a gentleman — gets drawn into the schemes and self-interest of a politician. The script is witty, the plot keeps viewers engaged, and a cast featuring Antonio Jaramillo and Kimani Bradley delivers strong performances throughout.

Peter served as Sound Supervisor and Re-Recording Mixer, building every element of the film’s soundtrack from design and dialogue to the final mix. “Hearing my own mix in an IMAX Theatre is honestly a dream come true,” he said. The film is rich with his sound design, along with playful interactions between music and effects that trade rhythm — small details that give the comedy its timing and the conspiracy its tension.

‘The Pool Boy’ was produced by Joyce Fitzpatrick, whose steady guidance carried the project from set to screen. It was written and directed by Brian Shackelford, a remarkably detail-oriented and patient director whose care is evident in every frame; his story design carries real depth beneath the fun, layering substance and surprise into a plot that keeps audiences guessing.

‘The Pool Boy’ will be released as a paid title on November 8, 2026, on Amazon Prime, Google TV, and Apple TV, and will stream for free starting December 10, 2026, on Tubi, Roku, Peacock, and Plex.

With ‘The Pool Boy’ finished, Peter continues to take on feature and series work from Los Angeles, bringing the same dedication to production sound, sound design, and the final mix on every project he joins.
