There’s a certain magic in a song that finds its muse in the unlikeliest of places — and for Nashville’s Caryn Dixon, that spark happened in a Wisconsin karaoke bar. Her new single, “Star of Boscobel,” drops Friday, October 16, as the first taste of her forthcoming EP, Where I’ve Been, which is set to arrive November 27.

That same evening, Dixon will host a listening event at The Bowery Vault, located at 2905 Gallatin Pike in Nashville, kicking off at 8:30 p.m. — a chance for fans to hear the track in person and hear the backstory straight from the artist herself.
The song’s origin is as personal as it gets: Dixon was inspired by a woman she calls a karaoke star in Wisconsin, and she plans to bring that very woman into the upcoming music video. A duet version is also in the works, giving listeners an intimate look at the real person behind the song’s narrative.

The video is slated for December, with a visual concept built around the glow of nighttime streetlights and twinkle lights — a setting that mirrors the song’s reflective, small-town feel. Dixon will also unpack the story during her Nashville performance, offering context that goes beyond the lyrics.
Musically, Dixon weaves country storytelling with threads of folk, Americana, and alternative sounds, drawing on her own life as a mother and independent artist. The EP Where I’ve Been features its title track alongside “High Tide,” “Something Somewhere,” “Star of Boscobel,” and “Running for Gold.”
The release follows a successful stretch of touring that saw Dixon play seven shows across the UK, four of which sold out — one in Wales and three in England. The reception in Wales was especially warm, with feedback reading: “You’ve raised the bar very high now and I think we’ll have a riot on our hands if we don’t get you back next year.”
Her earlier single “Bird in a Cage” continues to pick up airplay on Absolute Radio Country, and she made an on-air appearance there during the UK tour.
The new music also arrives as Dixon opens up more candidly about surviving domestic abuse. This October, she’s sharing personal video content as part of her Domestic Violence Awareness Month outreach, and her return to music after a long hiatus adds a deeper layer of meaning to the songs she’s now releasing.
“Star of Boscobel” hits digital streaming platforms on October 16, with Where I’ve Been following on November 27.

Why it matters: Dixon’s new single is more than just a song — it’s a bridge between a stranger’s small-town story and a national audience, all while she reclaims her own voice after a difficult chapter. By pairing a fresh release with a listening event and continued advocacy, she’s showing how independent artists can build community around both their music and their message.
