Every so often, a chance encounter becomes the seed of a song—and for Nashville-based Country/Americana artist Caryn Dixon, that moment happened in a Wisconsin karaoke bar. Her latest single, “Star of Boscobel,” drops Friday, October 16, serving as the lead-up to her upcoming EP, Where I’ve Been, which lands November 27. To mark the occasion, Dixon is hosting a listening event at The Bowery Vault, 2905 Gallatin Pike in Nashville, starting at 8:30 p.m. that same evening.

The track’s origins trace back to a woman Dixon calls a karaoke star in Wisconsin. Rather than keeping that inspiration at arm’s length, Dixon plans to bring the woman into the song’s forthcoming music video and record a duet version with her—giving audiences a direct introduction to the person behind the story.

That video is slated for December, with a visual concept built around nighttime streetlights and twinkle lights. Dixon will also unpack the backstory of the song during her Nashville performance, offering fans a deeper look at how the piece came together.

Dixon’s sound weaves country storytelling with folk, Americana, and alternative touches, and Where I’ve Been draws heavily on her life as both a mother and an independent artist. The EP features its title track along with “High Tide,” “Something Somewhere,” “Star of Boscobel,” and “Running for Gold.”

The release follows a recent stretch of UK shows—seven in total—with four sellouts across Wales and three in England. One piece of feedback from the Wales gig read: “You’ve raised the bar very high now and I think we’ll have a riot on our hands if we don’t get you back next year.”

Her earlier single “Bird in a Cage” continues to spin on Absolute Radio Country, and she made an on-air appearance there during the tour.

The timing of this release also carries personal weight. Dixon has been speaking more candidly about her experience with domestic abuse, and this October she is sharing personal video content as part of her Domestic Violence Awareness Month outreach. Her return to music after a long hiatus adds another layer of perspective to the themes running through her work.

“Star of Boscobel” hits digital streaming platforms October 16, with Where I’ve Been following on November 27.
