When a cultural institution reaches its diamond anniversary, the milestone is rarely just about the past—it’s about what comes next. For Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández, that next chapter begins with a coast-to-coast American tour that will bring Mexico’s storied dance traditions to more than 20 cities in early 2027.

General Manager Salvador Lopez frames the anniversary as something far bigger than the company itself. “Our 75th anniversary is a celebration not only of Ballet Folklórico de México, but of the people, communities, traditions, and artists who have kept Mexico’s cultural heritage alive.” The announcement arrived October 20, 2026, out of New York, NY, via EINPresswire.com.
The internationally acclaimed Ballet Folklorico de Mexico de Amalia Hernández will launch the tour in Northridge, California, on January 30, 2027. From there, the company travels to Los Angeles, CA; Tucson, AZ; Las Vegas, NV; Milwaukee, WI; Chicago, IL; San Antonio, TX, and many other markets. Fans can find the complete itinerary and ticketing details at www.balletfolkloricodemexico.com.mx.
More than 50 company members will travel the country, bringing the celebrated repertoire that blends traditional dances from Mexico’s many regions into a theatrical spectacle that has captivated audiences since the company’s debut in 1952. The 75th anniversary tour showcases the signature combination of technical artistry, vibrant costumes, live music, dynamic choreography, and traditional Mexican music and dance.
“We are honored to bring the artistic legacy of Amalia Hernández to audiences throughout the United States and to introduce new generations to the beauty and diversity of Mexico,” Lopez added.
Founded by visionary choreographer Amalia Hernández, the company has spent 75 years sharing Mexico’s rich cultural heritage with audiences worldwide. Hernández created the company in 1952, driven by a mission to recover and celebrate the traditions of Mexico through dance. Today, it is recognized as the most important company of its kind globally.
Hernández’s approach was groundbreaking: she conducted deep research across Mexican states, studying not just dances but also music, customs, and typical costumes. She then reimagined them, staging them with avant-garde thinking and creating a cultural management model defined by efficiency and professionalism onstage.
Leadership remains a family affair. The company tours under the general direction of Salvador Lopez, grandson of Amalia Hernández, with artistic direction from Viviana Basanta Hernández, the founder’s daughter.
The 2027 US Tour runs from late January through March. IMG Artists, an international management firm specializing in performing arts and cultural entertainment, is handling bookings. For more details, visit www.balletfolkloricodemexico.com.mx.

Why it matters: As the company behind this anniversary tour is led by the founder’s own descendants, this milestone represents a direct, unbroken lineage of cultural preservation. For American audiences, the 25-city sweep offers a rare chance to experience a world-renowned Mexican institution without leaving the country—a powerful reminder that traditional art forms can thrive across generations when innovation and heritage are treated as partners, not opposites.
