Before heartbreak, before hope, there was a girl imagining love — and ALYA’s new single takes listeners back to that beginning.

ALYA rewinds love story with new prequel single “Dreaming”

With “BELIEVER,” ALYA captured the moment she dared to trust in love once more. Her latest release, “DREAMING,” peels back the clock to the very origin of that fragile belief.

The new track, available now, serves as a chronological prequel to “BELIEVER” and offers the next piece of In The Moment — a forthcoming album designed as an interconnected musical memoir tracing her path toward love. ALYA is deliberately telling this story in reverse, moving away from forward momentum to revisit the young girl who conjured romantic fantasies long before experiencing the real thing.

“I was always a dreamer of romance, although it wasn’t nourished or encouraged in my culture,” ALYA shared.

Raised in Eastern Europe, ALYA spent her childhood imagining the intimate, film-like details of romance: the brush of intertwined hands, fleeting eye contact, shared laughter — a deep connection she wasn’t certain would ever materialize in her own life. These private visions evolved into the emotional core of “DREAMING.”

Sonically, the song blends pop with R&B and soul undertones. ALYA’s smooth lead vocals ride an effortless, infectious groove, with layered backing harmonies from ALYA and co-producer Yeezo.

The track’s foundation was born at home. ALYA experimented with instruments in her personal studio, recorded her initial ideas, and sent them to producer Tim Carmon to help flesh them out. What started as an impulsive home-studio spark transformed into a full-band arrangement centered on rhythm, a laid-back groove, and a fluid sense of movement.

“This song and the forthcoming album all came so effortlessly in terms of writing because most of it came from the diary of my mind,” ALYA explained.

Carmon produced “DREAMING” alongside co-producer Yeezo, with a veteran ensemble of players: Mateo Laboriel on drums and acoustic guitar, Errol Cooney on electric guitar, Courtney Leonard on bass, and Carmon on keys and additional instrumentation. Dexter Simmons handled mixing, with mastering by Dave Collins.

Where “BELIEVER” channeled heartbreak and a surprising resurgence of hope, “DREAMING” lives in the space before all that — a realm of anticipation, imagination, and the quiet possibility of what love might one day hold. Together, the two tracks expose the nonlinear narrative approach woven through In The Moment, an album that looks backward while pushing forward.

The release extends the cinematic, emotionally charged pop universe ALYA has been constructing. The Grammy-winning artist has amassed over 50 million views across her social platforms and has collaborated with names like Eric Clapton, Erica Campbell, and D Smoke, traversing pop, gospel, and soul.

Yet with “DREAMING,” she dials the scope inward to something deeply personal. Before the heartbreak, before rediscovering belief, before the album took shape, there was simply a girl dreaming about the shape love might take. ALYA is inviting listeners to meet her in that tender, formative moment.

Why it matters: “DREAMING” signals a bold structural choice for an album release, offering fans a reverse-chronological narrative that prioritizes emotional depth over linear storytelling. For ALYA, it’s a reminder that the most powerful love stories often start not with experience, but with the courage to imagine.
