Voices of Note launches its 2026–27 season with individual holiday concerts from the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus and Atlanta Women’s Chorus.
ATLANTA, GA, UNITED STATES, September 24, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Voices of Note is set to launch its 2026–27 season this December with holiday concerts presented by the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus and the Atlanta Women’s Chorus, giving listeners two unique ways to mark the season through live choral music. Rather than sharing a single holiday program, the two ensembles will hold separate concerts, each guided by its own artistic approach.
These performances carry forward a holiday tradition that has united Atlanta audiences through music while allowing each chorus to craft an experience that reflects its own sound, character, and connection with listeners.
The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus will offer its 46th Annual Holiday Concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, and at 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Cathedral of St. Philip.
“The AGMC holiday show always offers surprises,” said Donald Milton III, artistic director of the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus. “Fresh takes on classic holiday tunes, poignant moments of beauty, and you never know what costumes or puppets might appear. Over 150 voices rising above these orchestral arrangements is going to be quite remarkable.”
Accompanied by a chamber orchestra, AGMC will deliver holiday favorites such as “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “O Holy Night,” along with “Baba Yetu,” “There Will Be Rest,” and “Do a Little Good” from “Spirited.” The concert will also include a new medley of songs from Rankin/Bass animated holiday films, blending music that celebrates holiday traditions, relationships, and gatherings.
Then, its sibling ensemble, the Atlanta Women’s Chorus, will wrap up the holiday season with “Peace and Joy” at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church.
Through a blend of holiday standards, choral treasures, and playful selections, AWC will bring its own musical viewpoint to the season. The program will highlight four-hand piano pieces, an audience singalong, and a winter solstice celebration, all delivered through the group’s signature sound.
“Holiday music carries such a wide range of memories and feelings, and that gives us a wonderful spectrum to explore as an ensemble,” said Dr. Melissa Arasi, artistic director of the Atlanta Women’s Chorus. “We want audiences to feel the warmth and beauty of these voices, but we also want them to experience the personality of AWC — the rapport, energy, and sense of celebration these singers bring to the stage.”
The concert provides a chance to focus on peace and joy amid the world's negativity. Listeners will hear music that evokes peace, such as Bing Crosby and David Bowie’s “The Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth” and Dan Forrest’s “Shalom,” alongside the joy of “Trepak” from “The Nutcracker” and “Here Comes Santa Claus,” performed in the style of Elvis Presley. The program seeks to leave audiences with a refreshed sense of hope for the future.
Although both performances mark the holiday season, each concert is being created as a distinct artistic event. This approach reflects Voices of Note's broader commitment to allowing AGMC and AWC to keep their own identities while sharing one organizational home.
“One of Voices of Note’s strengths is that each chorus brings its own unique character and doesn’t have to sound or tell stories the same way,” said David Aurilio, executive director of Voices of Note. “That individuality lets audiences experience what makes each group special, while coming together to celebrate a season that has long been a vital part of our connection with Atlanta.”
The holiday concerts also kick off a season in which Voices of Note will shift between larger chorus performances, intimate ensemble programs, and concerts exploring history, renewal, transformation, and popular music. The full season extends through June 2027.
