Central to the project is a rare piece of musical heritage: a previously unreleased recording by the late Tim Broad, featuring acclaimed British guitarist Robbie McIntosh.
Sessions took place between November 2025 and July 2026 at Camden Studios and Yellow Door Music Studios in Dublin, Ireland. The album explores various shades of traditional blues, ranging from intimate, reflective pieces to fuller arrangements driven by guitar, Hammond organ, harmonica, saxophone, percussion, and drums.
“The River of Love”: A Long‑Lost Recording Finally Surfaces
One of the album’s standout tracks, “The River of Love,” was originally recorded in the 1980s and never officially released. The session features the late Tim Broad along with Robbie McIntosh on lead guitar and backing vocals.
The discovery of this recording became a pivotal element of the Blues Way project. Emma Gale played an essential role in preserving the tape and facilitating its inclusion on the album, ensuring that Broad’s work reaches a new audience decades after it was laid down.
Its presence creates an unusual bridge across time: a recording preserved from an earlier era of British blues and rock history now sits alongside performances recorded in Dublin by the musicians and collaborators who assembled Blues Way.
A Journey Through Traditional Blues
Spanning nearly 34 minutes, Blues Way is founded on the idea that the blues is fundamentally a storytelling medium. Across nine tracks, those stories address home, distance, memory, loss, longing, resilience, and the search for a way back.
Rather than treating traditional blues as a fixed historical artifact, the album brings together musicians from different locations and eras into a shared musical dialogue. The result is a project equally concerned with preserving musical history and keeping the blues alive as a contemporary form of expression.

The album was produced by Andrea Fresu, Dimitris Nezis, Emma Gale, Robbie McIntosh, and Tim Broad, with engineering by Alessandro Di Camillo, Robbie McIntosh, and Mason Mazziotti. Mixing and mastering were handled by Mehran Matin.
