NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, July 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The third season of Hamptons Summer Songbook by the Sea, a live concert series that showcases top-tier Broadway, cabaret, and American Songbook artists on the East End, continues with Eric Yves Garcia and Maria Abous in “Beyond Blue Moon — And Before the Broken Hart.” The performance takes place at LTV Studios in Wainscott on Saturday, July 25th, 2026, at 7:30pm.
David Alpern serves as both producer and host for this evening, which delves into the cleverness, pain, and refinement of lyricist Lorenz “Larry” Hart. His collaboration with composer Richard Rodgers yielded more than 500 songs and helped shape the sound of American popular music. Drawing inspiration from “Blue Moon”—described as a “tart, sad screen tale of a famous musical divorce and the broken Hart behind it”—the program fills the musical space surrounding the title track with Rodgers and Hart gems.
Garcia and Abous transport audiences into the world of Rodgers and Hart through beloved classics such as “Falling in Love with Love,” “Isn’t It Romantic?,” “My Funny Valentine,” and “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.” The evening also features one selection by Oscar Hammerstein, along with lyric sheets encouraging the audience to join in singing—“for better and verse.”
Garcia, a highly acclaimed and award-winning singer-pianist in New York, brings a cabaret veteran’s mastery of timing, style, and musical storytelling to the night. He is the recipient of the Margaret Whiting Award and a Bistro Award for singer-instrumentalist, and most recently earned the Donald F. Smith Award from the Mabel Mercer Foundation during its annual Cabaret Convention at Jazz at Lincoln Center. His career has taken him from New York to London and Paris, from Chez Josephine and The Pierre Hotel to performances aboard the Silversea cruise line.
Abous, a crossover soprano whose voice, according to Rolling Stone UK, “begs for lush orchestration,” has performed on iconic New York stages including Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, 54 Below, The Triad, and Birdland. Woman Around Town called her “the embodiment of a leading lady,” and she brings classical training, theatrical instinct, and emotional warmth to a program built around romance, longing, and lyrical sophistication.
The performance is produced and hosted by Alpern, a Sag Harbor resident whose career has spanned journalism, broadcasting, and the performing arts. He began as a New York correspondent for United Press International and later worked as a reporter, writer, and senior editor at Newsweek. Alpern hosted “Newsweek on Air” for more than three decades, conducting interviews with newsmakers, policy experts, and top entertainers such as Katharine Hepburn, Katharine Graham, Bob Woodward, Carl Bernstein, Walter Cronkite, Robert Caro, John le Carré, Nora Ephron, Rosemary Clooney, and Barbara Cook.
The July 25th concert continues the tradition of Hamptons Summer Songbook by the Sea, which combines world-class performers with the intimate atmosphere of LTV Studios’ black-box venue, café-style seating, excellent acoustics, and a close-up concert experience designed for storytelling, connection, and refined summer entertainment.
The 2026 season continues with “A Swell-egant, Elegant Party,” hosted by Laurence Maslon and starring Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano, on August 1st; KT Sullivan and Mark Nadler, joined by Stephanie Pope and Christine Pedi, in a program co-sponsored by the Mabel Mercer Foundation on August 22nd; and a season finale with Tony Award-winning “A Chorus Line” star Donna McKechnie on August 29th.

Eric Yves Garcia is one of the most popular and award-winning singer/pianists in NYC, also performing across the U.S., London, and Paris.
