Some of the most consuming operatic dramas ever written will unfold next month in a New York recital hall — without a single singer on stage. InterHarmony International Music Festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary season at Carnegie Hall with an evening built entirely on instrumental storytelling.

Stories of Love, Daring, and Defiance, Told Without a Single Word

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, October 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — InterHarmony Celebrates 15 Years at Carnegie Hall with Fearless Passion; Stories of love, daring, and defiance, told without a single word. The concert takes place Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 8:00 PM in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, as part of the InterHarmony Concert Series under the direction of Music Director Misha Quint.

The program traces a dramatic arc from Isolde’s final rapture to a fatal duel in Goya’s Madrid, channeling opera’s most intense emotions through violin, cello, and piano. Pianist Bennett Lambelet launches the evening with the propulsive Fugue from Barber’s Piano Sonata, then violinist Evan Pyne and pianist Ellen Annor-Adjei take on Chausson’s haunting Poème, a work inspired by a Turgenev tale of love and sorcery. Pianist Miles Fellenberg joins violinist Blake Armstrong for Ravel’s blazing Tzigane, and pianist John Thomas Morris closes the first half with Liszt’s searing transcription of Wagner’s Liebestod.

Following intermission, Music Director and cellist Misha Quint teams up with Miles Fellenberg for Shostakovich’s Cello Sonata in D minor, Op. 40, a piece born of personal upheaval. The duo then shifts to the sultry Intermezzo from Granados’s Goyescas, an opera that premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in 1916 — just weeks before Granados drowned attempting to save his wife from a torpedoed ship. They finish with Paganini’s spellbinding variations on a prayer from Rossini’s Moses, a tour de force played entirely on a single string.

Since its debut, the InterHarmony Concert Series at Carnegie Hall has paired distinguished artists with rising talents from across the globe, giving New York audiences intimate access to both familiar masterworks and rarely heard treasures. Fearless Passion embodies that mission: an evening in which every melody tells a story, and each story risks everything in the name of love. Whether these pieces are old friends or new discoveries, the night promises to leave a lasting impression in one of the world’s most storied venues.

Why it matters: This anniversary concert underscores how instrumental music can carry the full weight of operatic narrative, making grand drama accessible to audiences who may never set foot in an opera house. It also highlights InterHarmony’s ongoing role in bridging celebrated performers with the next generation of classical talent on an international stage.
