Overview

Story

A young girl and an empress.

Driven by a common yearning for vengeance, the pair will rattle the most formidable empire the globe has ever witnessed.

After losing her mother and being ripped away from her native land, a girl named Sitara finds refuge with Fatima, a compassionate woman from a scholarly household.

"If you study and become wise, no matter what trouble befalls you, you’ll know the best way forward."

Profoundly affected by the words of Fatima’s son, Muhammad, Sitara begins to grasp the value and potential of knowledge and starts advancing her learning.

She dreams of someday catching up with Muhammad, who has embarked on a voyage in search of wisdom…

Simultaneously, under the rule of Emperor Genghis Khan, the vast Mongol Empire advances unstoppably, overtaking one nation after another and spreading its reach across the planet. Before long, the currents of history sweep into the city where Sitara resides.

After losing everything to Tolui, the empire’s Fourth Prince, and being taken as a captive, Sitara decides to employ the sole remaining asset she possesses—her intelligence—to sneak into the royal court and dismantle the empire from within.

She does this while adopting the name “Fatima,” bequeathed to her by her mistress.

Although a blaze of revenge smolders inside her, Sitara outwardly dedicates herself to serving the empire. One day, she crosses paths with Töregene, the sixth wife of the Third Prince, Ögedei. Töregene, haunted by her own tragic history, likewise nurses a deep hatred for the empire within her soul.

Sitara and Töregene, two women never destined to meet. The instant they clasp hands, the mechanisms of destiny start spinning.
