Tickets are now available for the world premiere of Some I Wrote: A Musical Story of the Songs of The Statler Brothers, an original stage production celebrating the music, stories, and enduring legacy of one of country music’s most beloved and decorated vocal groups.
The production runs October 15 through 18 and October 22 through 25, 2026, at ShenanArts in downtown Staunton, Virginia, the very hometown where The Statler Brothers grew up, performed, and became icons. The choice of venue adds an emotional resonance that few premiere productions can match.
Adapted for the stage by Jeff and Cori McDaniel, the musical draws from The Music of The Statler Brothers: An Anthology by founding member and songwriter Don Reid. Rather than a conventional jukebox format, the show weaves personal narratives behind the songs with the group’s signature four-part harmonies, offering audiences both the hits they love and the stories they have never heard.
“Their history here, and the lasting impression that they have made, is undeniable,” said Matt Parrish, Artistic Director of ShenanArts, underscoring the deep connection between the group and the community staging their story.
The production features a local cast and creative team bringing Reid’s memories to life through a blend of beloved classics and lesser-known compositions. Themes of family, faith, and friendship run throughout the evening, reflecting the values that defined The Statler Brothers’ career and connected them with generations of fans.
As one of the most awarded acts in country music history, The Statler Brothers earned three Grammy Awards, nine Country Music Association Awards, and were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. A stage musical celebrating their catalog has been long anticipated by fans.
