First dropped in April 2025, “Diamond Gal” is experiencing a fresh wave of attention as ZZAMBO honors women, their value, strength, and importance through song.

“Much of today’s popular music back home tends to demean women. My goal is to showcase the excellence of our women and offer them the care and admiration they merit.””— ZZAMBOMIAMI, FL, UNITED STATES, September 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Over a year since its debut, musician ZZAMBO’s “Diamond Gal,”
which features Dancehall legend Vybz Kartel, is gaining fresh momentum.

The track, initially launched in April 2025, has recently drawn renewed interest and questions, offering
listeners a chance to uncover not just the song itself, but the tale behind an unexpected partnership
and a message ZZAMBO sees as vital in the current music scene. Centered on admiration, affection, and acknowledging a woman’s importance,
“Diamond Gal” draws its inspiration directly from Vybz Kartel’s lyrics on the track.

“I received the verse from Vybz Kartel while he was imprisoned, thanks to my brother Isat Buchanan, who
led his legal team for the appeal of his murder case,” ZZAMBO shares. “A single line from his verse—‘I got a present for you, yeah I’ma put it on you’—sparked the concept. What
gift is more fitting than a diamond? In the end, the woman is the diamond. She is the true gem.”

For ZZAMBO, this partnership holds extra weight because it arose without any prior
connection or direct link to one of Dancehall’s most prominent figures.

“Having Vybz Kartel on this record is a divine blessing,” ZZAMBO states. “When an artist of that
stature appears on your song without any prior communication or bond, it’s purely God
and timing.”

Yet beyond its notable guest feature, the core of “Diamond Gal” lies in its tribute to women.
ZZAMBO employs the imagery of a diamond—scarce, precious, many-faceted, and formed under intense pressure—
to convey the importance of valuing and safeguarding what is dear.
“Diamonds are shaped under pressure. They are scarce and have many facets,” he notes. “When something is
valuable to you, you shield it. You ensure its safety. You never lose sight of it because you
recognize its importance. Every woman is a Diamond Gal once she embraces her own worth.”
This perspective also mirrors the broader artistic direction ZZAMBO is forging as he moves into a new
phase of his career. Rather than focusing his music exclusively on what is trendy right now, he aims
to make love, respect, and emotional depth central themes of his output.
“ZZAMBO is about love and honoring the special people in others’ lives,” he says. “I want
people to see that love is the highest form of expression.”

With the renewed buzz surrounding “Diamond Gal,” ZZAMBO is also contemplating his connection
with Jamaica’s present music scene. He sees the track as both a tribute and a shift
away from pursuing traditional markers of success on Jamaican radio.

“‘Diamond Gal’ is my heartfelt goodbye to my efforts to crack the Top 10 charts on Jamaican radio,”
ZZAMBO remarks. “A lot of what is popular at home right now can be quite disrespectful to women. My aim is to
spotlight the caliber of our women and give them the affection and dignity they are due.”
The fresh discovery of “Diamond Gal” comes as ZZAMBO keeps advancing the next stage of a
career rooted in Jamaican sounds but influenced by a wider mix of Reggae, Dancehall, R&B, Hip-Hop
and Pop.
Born Zambo Tafari Buchanan in Kingston, Jamaica, ZZAMBO is the child of famed Reggae artist Big
Youth. Previously performing as Tafari, he built his reputation through years of recording and
touring, including numerous shows across European and South American reggae circuits.
His earlier work features the hit single “Money in My Pocket” and three albums released over a
six-year span. Projects such as Rud3 Love and Desire Fulfilled climbed to the Top 10 on the U.S. iTunes
Reggae chart.
His shift from Tafari to ZZAMBO is more than a simple rebrand. It marks what the artist
calls a transformation—a fresh exploration of identity, artistry, and purpose.

Now based in Miami and crafting his debut album under the ZZAMBO moniker, he is using “Diamond
Gal” as a link between those eras.
A song that first appeared in 2025 might be enjoying its second wave, but for ZZAMBO, its message
is lasting: recognize what is precious, honor its value, and celebrate love.
“Diamond Gal” with Vybz Kartel is currently available across digital streaming services.
