SAN FRANCISCO, CA, UNITED STATES, August 24, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Emerging singer-songwriter Clarity Liao reveals further emotional layers of her upcoming EP Dear… with the drop of her newest single, 'Have You'. Merging intimate bedroom pop with indie-pop warmth and heartfelt lyrics, the song conveys the quiet sting of unspoken affection, turning an unsent declaration into one of her most deeply personal works yet.

Writing songs since she was seven, Clarity has already made a name for herself as a promising young songwriter. As the primary writer for the group Navillera, she played a key role in crafting the band's award-winning debut single 'Too Young', which earned the 2024 Yamaha National Best Popular Music Award, and her piece 'I Need You' took first place at the YMS 2025 National Composers competition. Now stepping confidently into a solo career, Clarity continues to expand her sonic palette, exploring indie pop, bedroom pop, R&B, and modern doo-wop while staying anchored in intensely personal storytelling.

On 'Have You', Clarity reaches her most vulnerable point yet, delving into the bittersweet experience of loving someone from a distance without ever gathering the nerve to express her feelings.

"Have You is a love letter to a boy I was friends with, but never had the courage to tell I liked him," Clarity explains. "It came from the feeling of caring deeply for someone while keeping it hidden, and trying to become someone they would notice. I changed my style, put more thought into how I looked, and gave so much of myself, but still couldn't have him. The song captures that heartbreak of wanting someone who never fully sees the effort behind it."

Instead of simply recounting those emotions, Clarity crafted the song as if it were the letter she never got to send.

"I wanted the lyrics to feel honest, vulnerable, and a little obsessive in the way real feelings can be when you like someone deeply," she says. "I also tried to capture his music taste so it would feel personal, like something he might finally understand if he ever hears it."

That raw sincerity extends into every facet of the production. Built on restrained instrumentation and airy arrangements, 'Have You' lets Clarity's expressive vocals take the lead, creating the impression of an intimate talk rather than a glossy pop recording.

"I wanted it to sound like a quiet confession, with enough space for the feelings to come through clearly. The overall sound was shaped to support the emotional tension of waiting, hoping, and not being able to let go."

The single is part of Clarity's forthcoming seven-track EP, Dear…, a series of musical love notes that explore love, jealousy, rejection, and grief. Every song captures conversations that were never finished and emotions that were never voiced, balancing hope and heartbreak. Throughout the project, love appears both comforting and confining, a bittersweet space where vulnerability and yearning coexist.

With 'Have You', Clarity Liao delivers perhaps her most intimate release to date, a beautifully understated admission that reminds listeners that life's biggest feelings are often the ones never spoken aloud. As anticipation for Dear… builds, the single cements her place as one of indie pop's most exciting new storytellers, creating songs that feel less like performances and more like pages torn from a diary.
