Soweto Gospel Choir and Nomvula),” the newest single from the forthcoming full-length album Classics, Vol. 1, set for release on August 25th via House of Latroit / Symphonic. This track reimagines the classic Sade song, brought to life through a collaboration with the Soweto Gospel Choir and South African vocalist Nomvula (pronounced nome-voo-lah)—a human rights activist and former president of the Trade Union for Musicians of South Africa.

Rooted in gospel and driven by Amapiano rhythms, the track reframes the original as a communal anthem performed in siXhosa and Zulu, giving fresh emotional resonance to the song’s message. “Pearls” has already garnered early backing from influential Los Angeles tastemaker radio station KCRW, continuing the station’s long‑running support of Latroit and his projects.
Latroit first encountered Nomvula through Orna Create, a cultural exchange initiative he co‑founded with leaders from the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce Youth Commission. The program was established to connect South African artists and producers with global opportunities, sparking the ongoing creative partnership between Latroit and Nomvula that now continues with “Pearls.”
Classics Vol. 1 serves as the thematic follow‑up to History of House, the acclaimed Soweto Gospel Choir LP produced by Latroit. The new album features contributions from Ron Carter, Nick Clow, Soweto Gospel Choir, and Nomvula Munnie. GRAMMY Award‑winning producer, songwriter, DJ, and composer Dennis White—known professionally as Latroit—has spent more than three decades shaping modern dance music. He began his career as Music Director for Kevin Saunderson’s legendary group Inner City, and his production and remix credits include Depeche Mode, Madonna, deadmau5, Elvis Presley, Hans Zimmer, Nile Rodgers, Idris Elba, and Swedish House Mafia.
