Accerts brings award-winning Home(sick) and two more films to AFM 2026

When a film slate arrives at the American Film Market carrying a four-time award winner and two stories rooted in migration and memory, buyers tend to take notice. Accerts Productions is betting that the emotional weight of these completed features and shorts will translate into distribution deals when the market opens in Los Angeles next week.

Accerts Productions to Present Completed Films for Sales and Distribution at AFM 2026

It takes courage to tell stories that matter. These films were made with care and conviction, and we chose to represent them because their stories deserve to be carried into the world,”— Raúl E. Peyret, Founder and Producer, Accerts ProductionsLOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Accerts Productions is heading to the 2026 American Film Market with a trio of completed independent films, aiming to spark sales, distribution and licensing conversations. Leading the charge is the four-time award-winning feature Home(sick): A Journey Within, with AFM running in Los Angeles from November 10 through November 15.

The lineup weaves together three narratives shaped by migration, memory and cultural identity: Home(sick): A Journey Within, Bestefar and El día que me quieras: El viaje de Gardel. Accerts will be holding meetings with sales agents, distributors, broadcasters, curated platforms and other qualified buyers to explore title-specific and territory-specific opportunities.

Written and directed by Raúl E. Peyret, Home(sick): A Journey Within is an approximately 85-minute character-driven drama centering on an Argentine expatriate who returns home after years in the United States, only to find that belonging isn’t simply a matter of geography. An unexpected connection pushes him to rethink identity, love and the true meaning of feeling at home.

Since its world premiere at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, Home(sick) has racked up four wins and seven nominations. The film took home Best First Feature – International and Best Director (Thriller/Drama) at TINFF 2025, Best Hispanic Film at the Costa Brava Film Festival and Best Independent Film at the 2026 New York Independent Cinema Awards. Its festival run also included its U.S. premiere at the Seattle Latino Film Festival and screenings at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood as an Official Selection of the 2026 Golden State Film Festival, where it earned a nomination for Best Feature Film.

The film’s own trajectory has echoed its narrative: a production built between the United States and Argentina, now gaining recognition across Canada, Spain and the United States—from Seattle to New York and Hollywood.

Directed by Pablo Goldberg and produced by Sun Factory Films, Bestefar is a completed 40-minute Argentine-Norwegian documentary that opens with Karen decorating for Christmas in Argentina when an unexpected message arrives from a woman in Norway: Karen’s grandfather and the woman’s grandmother once shared a relationship.

That revelation sends Karen digging through old family photographs, where each discovery raises yet another question. Driven to understand her grandfather’s hidden past, she travels to Norway to reconnect with family and trace his story. Shifting between intimate family memory and the broader forces that displaced generations, Bestefar examines immigration, lost love, childhood memory and the lingering scars of war. The film screened in Oslo as part of Films from the South 2025, followed by a conversation with the filmmakers.

El día que me quieras: El viaje de Gardel is a completed 32-minute animated biographical film tracing Carlos Gardel’s rise from humble beginnings in Buenos Aires to becoming the voice that helped carry tango to international audiences. Produced by the Universidad de Buenos Aires and selected for Cannes International Film Week 2026, the film is being presented by Accerts for sales and licensing discussions, subject to current rights and territory availability.

“It takes courage to tell stories that matter. These films were made with care and conviction, and we chose to represent them because their stories deserve to be carried into the world,” said Raúl E. Peyret, Founder and Producer of Accerts Productions.

Accerts is open to discussions involving international sales, direct distribution, digital and platform licensing, educational and cultural licensing, airline and inflight exhibition, and curated short-film or documentary programming.

Screeners, trailers, project materials and current rights information will be shared selectively with qualified parties. Meetings may be requested during Accerts’ AFM attendance from November 10 through November 15.

Why it matters: As independent filmmakers increasingly seek direct connections with buyers at major markets, Accerts’ decision to bring a slate of completed, festival-tested titles signals a shift toward finished work as the strongest negotiating position. For audiences, the films underscore how stories of displacement and identity continue to resonate across borders—and how those narratives are finding homes far beyond their countries of origin.
